At an elementary school, 18 students in a combined 4th and 5th grade class participated in the project.

Classroom infrastructure. The classroom had 3 computers, but only one (Macintosh LC575) with access to the Internet via 14.4 modem connection. The teacher had attended the training day before the start of the project.

Sample activities. In addition to acquiring MR images, students in this combined class sliced cucumbers and kiwi fruit to get introduced to MRI vocabulary and techniques. The teacher created an MRI primer booklet for her students. Students recorded daily observations in their chick embryology logbooks. Figure 3 and 4 illustrate the teacher developed materials for the classroom.
